MAA AMC
Mathematical Association of America - American Math contest
The AMC program is more than just a competition; it’s a international effort to strengthen the mathematical capabilities of our next generation of innovators. By challenging students with engaging problems, the AMC sets the stage for lifelong mathematical exploration, discovery, and achievement.
The MAA’s American Mathematics Competitions (MAA AMC) program leads the nation in strengthening the mathematical capabilities of the next generation of problem-solvers. The MAA AMC program helps America’s educators identify talent and foster a love of mathematics through classroom resources and friendly competition. The MAA AMC program positively impacts the analytical skills needed for future careers in an innovative society.
In 1950, the first Mathematical Contest, sponsored by the New York Metropolitan Section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), took place. It was given in approximately 200 schools to around 6,000 students in the New York area only. Today, the competition has grown to over 300,000 students participating annually, in over 4,000 schools all over the world. The schools get recognized by the Mathematical Association of America around the world for supporting students in achieving success.

AIME (American Invitational Mathematics Examination)
It is a selective and prestigious 15-question 3-hour test given since 1983 to those who rank in the top 5% on the AMC 12 high school mathematics examination (formerly known as the AHSME), and starting in 2010, those who rank in the top 2.5% on the AMC 10. Two different versions of the test are administered, the AIME I and AIME II. However, qualifying students can only take one of these two competitions.
